Measuring for curtain width
More Information
When measuring your curtain width, it is vital you measure the curtain pole or track not the actual window. If you are fitting a new track or pole then ensure extenuation of 15 to 30cm either side of the window to allow the curtains to be stacked back off the window. This should be between 12 to 15 cm above the window recess.
Curtain tracks

Measure from end to end - A
If your rail encompasses a centre overlap, then measure the rail as above and add the measurements together. See diagram below -

A + B = Total track width
Curtain poles
To measure a curtain pole, measure from end to end, in the diagram this is between the decorative ends – C

Measuring for curtain drop
The measuring of your curtain drop are best hung to the floor or to the sill or just below the sill. Follow the measurements below for the perfect curtain drop.
- 1cm above the sill
- 15-20cm below the sill (or 2cm above the radiator)
- 1cm below the floor

Ensure you measure in at least three positions across the track or pole, to take into account that sills and floors are rarely level. To evade curtains dragging on the floor or sill, always use the shortest of the three measurements you have taken.
Tab Top heading
Tab Top headings usually have 10cm long tabs incorporated in the curtain drop and are suited for poles 45mm in diameter. For best fit measure from the top of the pole to your desired drop finish.

Pencil Pleat & Pinch Pleat headings
For Pencil pleats and pinch pleats, measure from the top of the track to your desired drop finish if you have a curtain track. If you have a curtain pole, measure from the underside of the ornamental ring to your desired drop finish.
Eyelet heading
The eyelet best fits poles 30mm in diameter. The inner edge of the eyelet is set down 3cm from the top of the curtain. Measure from the top of the pole to your desired drop finish and then add an additional 3cm.

Am I buying a single curtain or a pair?
All of our curtains come packed in pairs unless otherwise stated in the Description tab above; so when you have ”Quantity: 1” in your cart, this will purchase the pair.
Do tie backs come in pairs?
All of our tie backs are packed in pairs − so again, if you have ”1” in your cart, that is the price for the pair.
What about cushion covers?
Cushion covers are usually sold singly, but there are a few ranges where they are packed in pairs. This will be clearly stated on the item description.
For eyelet curtains, what is the size of the eyelet?
The diameter of the actual hole on eyelet curtains is usually around 40mm (4cm).
